This is an umbrella for the various affiliated activities for St. John’s University of Tanzania (www.sjut.ac.tz). It will eventually host general information about international friends organizations, including alumni groups.

St. John’s University of Tanzania (SJUT) is a private institute of higher education, owned by the Anglican Church of Tanzania and located in the central capital city of Tanzania, Dodoma.

The University holds to the Vision

“To provide and maintain high quality education, training, research and public service in the social, scientific, technological and theological disciplines”

which are in line with the Preamble to its Charter:

WHEREAS all human beings are created by God equal and have a right to education and training that is directed to the full development of the human personality; and integrated education formation aiming at holistic development of the human being is the key to enabling a human being to know and worship God;

WHEREAS knowledge and worship of God enable human beings to overcome prejudices related to gender, race, nation, ethnicity, religion, class, culture and such like, and to be conscious of ecology and the need to protect the environment;

WHEREAS the University shall generate knowledge through high quality basic and applied research and transmit knowledge from one generation to the next with an obligation to inculcate critical faculties in the academic community and the society at large…

…the Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania granted a charter for SJUT on 30th day of December, 2008.
